CM Bhupesh Baghel : Hookah Bars To Be Completely Banned In Chhattisgarh, Absconding Directors Of Chit Fund Companies To Be Arrested Immediately

Raipur, 22 October 2021 – Chief Minister  Bhupesh Baghel in a conference with Superintendents of Police and Inspectors General of Police today said that hookah bars should be completely banned in the state.

Chief Minister Baghel has directed to take strict action to check drug trade in the state. He also said that intoxicants from other states should not enter Chhattisgarh. He emphasized that not even a single ganja leaf should be allowed to enter Chhattisgarh from another state.

A conference of Superintendents of Police and Inspectors General of Police was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel at New Circuit House Auditorium in the state capital today.

Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey, Chief Secretary  Amitabh Jain, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department Subrata Sahoo, Director General of Police D.M. Awasthi, senior officials of Home Department and Deputy Secretary of Chief Minister Secretariate Soumya Chaurasia attended the conference.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said in the conference that our government, administration and police have done unprecedented work during the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that excellent work has been done in the interest of migrant labourers. He congratulated all the officers for the excellent work.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel told the Superintendents of Police and Inspectors General of Police that communal and chaotic elements are trying to give a big shape to small incidents. All the Superintendents of Police should identify these elements and develop their intelligence system because such incidents have a direct impact on the peace and order of the state and the image of the government.

Chief Minister said that at every level, the information system should be developed, at the police station, sub-division, district and range level. The superintendents of police should form a special team of social media monitoring in every district to identify those spreading rumours on social media and take action.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that opportunistic elements spread rumours, misinformation and misleading news to take political advantage of small incidents, it is necessary to identify them and take action. Social media has become one of the biggest means of spreading rumours. It is important to develop a strong intelligence system in social media as well.

In the meeting, the officials told that there has been a 32 percent reduction in murder cases as compared to 2011 and 37 percent reduction in attempt to murder as compared to 2011.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has directed the IGs and SPs to hold a meeting with the officers of the border states of Odisha and Madhya Pradesh for effective prevention of drugs. So far, 774 directors and office bearers of chit fund companies have been arrested in the state. Chief Minister Baghel has directed all the SPs and IGs to immediately arrest the remaining absconding directors and office bearers of the chit fund companies. He has asked all the SPs to take action by fixing a time limit for this. The Chief Minister said that the Collector and the SP, in coordination with each other, should mark other properties of chit fund companies and take action to attach them immediately.
